Converting an empty room into an event location is pretty easy. The emptier the room, the more you can do. The mood of the area can be easily changed using some of the tips given here. A dimly lit room can be given a romantic ambiance while a silly room can be made serious. Proper decorations can make things align with the event's ambiance.

First, some bold tastes are required. Adding bold colour through cloth or some decorations would be good. Long sheets of fabric with interesting patterns will add what we require. They could be simply hung down from the top or allowed to flow through the room. One thing to be avoided is extremely bright colours depending on the occasion. Romance requires red hues while a party will deem some bright and bold colours. You have a free hand with decoration but do ensure it does not violate any rules of the venue. Verify this during the contract signing.

Take some time off for the minute details. They make great accents. Try low priced shops selling craft work and find interesting decorative objects. You could consider a bag full of seashells or add some romantic elements like rose petals and pearls. If on a budget, there are many things to suit your purse like glass bits, stones, fake crystals and other table display items. Small objects can change the mood and use height to your advantage.

When assigning height, use tall objects to give some height dimensioning to the room. Items like pillars and candle stands make great decorative objects and fully utilize the height allowance till the ceiling. In a small area, the height factor will add much needed depth to your place, making it seem much bigger than it actually is. Another idea would be to utilize tall pieces as centre pieces. Do ensure that the objects are not very fragile and can't be moved or kicked about accidentally by your guests. Safety is paramount when you have guests at your place and ensuring that is important.

Use décor that matches well with everything else. This will take out the dark elements, adding much needed colour to your event location. However, do not make it too colourful either, so a good idea will be to match the table cloth and the floor runner and things will be fine. If it doesn't work out, flowers will do that. Flowers can change the ambiance completely and brightens things up. Order for some flowers to be set up at optimal locations and get good radiance. Be careful on the flowers and with a careful analysis, you could get some precious flowers thrown in.

If the decorations in the room do not worry you and you feel that the size is a compromising element, then change the table arrangement to create a roomy feel. For small rooms, utilize round tables. They give the impression of a lot of space and will also be felt by your guests. A large room could be made to seem smaller by setting up long tables in the room.

The final screw to the room arrangement is the lighting set up. Lighting creates the mood. Use lighting to your advantage to change the mood as the event requires. To keep people aware in say an event where bids or donations are happening, you will require fairly bright lighting. This will give the visibility to your guests but wont present as a headache to them. If you plan on presenting a romantic setting where some passion is involved, create a dimly set up area.
