The Most Useful Sites on the Web for Event Managers

A quick internet search will reveal page after page of event management websites, most of which are pretty useless. The following have been selected as some of the most important for those currently working in, or looking to work in the UK event industry. They are a great resource for anyone looking to learn more about the industry, find jobs, read articles, or ask expert advice in the forums.

Meetpie

One of the leaders in the field, meetpie is an event management website brought to you by CAT publications. Having undergone a new facelift recently, it's a useful resource for anyone in the business. Read the latest news, search for venues and suppliers, have your own say about industry developments, or peruse the job boards (largely includes agency postings). For those that register, there's also access to market data, and the meetpie gallery.

Events Review

Endorsed by the EIA (Event Industry Alliance) this is one of our favourite event management websites for content alone. No other site offer the same quantity of articles and videos pertaining to topics as varied as destinations, venues, new technologies, industry developments, and recent events. In addition the site offers venue and supplier sourcing facilities, and the latest jobs on their jobs board.

Corbin Ball

One of Meeting News' 25 most influential people in the events industry, Corbin's website is slightly tailored towards North American audiences. Although the site includes a number of useful features, by far and away the most impressive thing about the website is the vast number of articles and postings relating specifically to new and existing technologies in the events industry. If you're interested in finding ways to make your life easier, your events more effective, or reading about the things you could be implementing if you had a bigger budget look no further than Corbin's site. World Of Events

Theoretically a useful resource with sections pertaining to books, courses, research and industry news. However this website seems to have died a death in recent years, with very few new posting at all. Seems to have been unfortunately abandoned. Still if you want to have a dig around you might find some useful stuff:

Although first and foremost a professional copy writing service provider, write style also offer an events consultancy service for conference bureaus, hotels, and other venues. Of particular interest is the free site inspection handbook and familiarisation guide book available for download from the webiste which provides a step by step guide to getting the most out of your site inspections and familiarisation trips. The organisation is the brain child of director Mike Lyon who is also an experienced conference manager, marketing trainer, and writer.
