Event
Management Courses
Every
year universities, colleges and other education
institutions are introducing new courses
in event management to
meet the growing demand. Courses range from evening
college courses, to professional certifications, distance
learning and university degrees and masters degree.
Courses in event management are excellent way to learn
about the industry, the job function and differentiate
yourself from the competition. However, the general
consensus at present is that employers still prefer to
see solid event management experience on a CV than
theoretical studies. Several such courses are reviewed
below:

Event and Exhibition Management.
Birmingham City University (MA)
BCU's MA course in event and exhibition
management is only its second year but already has been
accredited as the first of it's kind in the UK. Located
in Birmingham city centre the course was set up in
conjunction with the National Exhibition Center
(NEC) with whom it enjoys close ties as it does
with others in the event and exhibition industry. The MA
is largely vocational and allows students the chance to
work on real events and event related projects from the
onset. The course content is compiled of talks
from guest lecturers who are currently working in
the field. Because of the small size of the course (open
to just 16 full time students per year),
students and guest lecturers are able to interact
and work together on projects. As a further
benefit (depending on your point of view) there are no
exams on this course which is graded entirely on group
projects and individual course work.
